Item Exploración 4.(Book, 1985) Consejo International de Recursos FitogeneticosItem Good practices for agrobiodiversity management(Book, 2020-09) Joshi, Bal Krishna; Gauchan, Devendra; Bhandari, Bharat; Jarvis, Devra I.Native agricultural genetic resources have been generally under-valued, therefore, some initiatives have been taken through Global In-situ agrobiodiversity project joinly implemented by NARC, LI-BIRD and Bioversity International since 1997 in Nepal for conservation and sustainable use of agrobiodiversity on-farm. Global in-situ project (1997-2006) has developed many good practices for agrobiodiversity management which are published in On-farm Management of Agricultural Biodiversity in Nepal: Good Practices 2006 (B Sthapit, P Shrestha and M Upadyay, eds). A good practice is a process or methodology or action that is effective and successful; environmentally, economically and socially sustainable; technically feasible; inherently participatory; replicable and adaptable, that has been proven to work well and produce good results. It is a successful experience tested and validated in achieving its objective. For further widening the scope of good practices in the country, NAGRC, LI-BIRD and Bioversity International have generated, tested and adapted a number of good practices in four sites, Jungu, Dolakha; Ghapanpokhara, Lamjung; Hanku, Jumla; and Chippra, Humla through a project Integrating Traditional Crop Genetic Diversity into Technology: Using a Biodiversity Portfolio Approach to Buffer against Unpredictable Environmental Change in the Nepal Himalayas , commonly called as Local Crop Project (LCP) from 2014 to 2019. Good practices listed here are well tested and adapted by the communtiies in the fields, shown their positive impact, shared and discussed among the relevant stakholders. Project team have tested and validated many good practices, however, we have included 22 good practices that are worth sharing for its dessimination and mainstreaming. These practices, though specially based on eight crops (rice, bean, barley, foxtail millet, proso millet, amaranth and buckwheat), can be widely applicable to other agricultural genetic ressources in different locations, national and globally.Item Plant genetic conservation(Book, 2020-09-10) Maxted, Nigel; Hunter, Danny; Ríos, Rodomiro OrtizItem Compendium of indicators for food system assessment(Book, 2020-07) Kennedy, Gina; Rota Nodari, Giulia; Trijsburg, Laura; Talsma, Elise F.; Haan, Stef de; Evans, Bob; Hernández, Ronald; Achterbosch, ThomItem Agrobiodiversity, school gardens and healthy diets: Promoting biodiversity, food and sustainable nutrition(Book, 2020) Hunter, Danny; Monville-Oro, Emilita; Burgos, Bessie; Rogel, Carmen Nyhria; Calub, Blesilda; Gonsalves, Julian Francis; Lauridsen, Nina OlsenThis book critically assesses the role of agrobiodiversity in school gardens and its contribution to diversifying diets, promoting healthy eating habits and improving nutrition among schoolchildren as well as other benefits relating to climate change adaptation, ecoliteracy and greening school spaces. It features international case studies, spanning both developed and developing nations.Item 作物田间与在地遗传多样性:研究实践中的原理和应用(Book, 2019) Jarvis, Devra I.; Hodgkin, T.; Brown, A.H.D.; Tuxill, J.; López Noriega, Isabel; Smale, Melinda; Sthapit, B.Item Farmers and plant breeding: current approaches and perspectives(Book, 2019) Tveitereid Westengen, O.; Winge, T.This book presents the history of, and current approaches to, farmer-breeder collaboration in plant breeding, situating this work in the context of sustainable food systems, as well as national and international policy and law regimes. It brings together experienced practitioners and researchers involved in collaborative breeding programmes across the world.Item Le débat des semences: Volume 1. Solutions politiques pour les ressources génétiques: Un Brevet pour la vie revisité(Book, 2001) International Development Research Centre; International Plant Genetic Resources Institute; Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation; Crucible II GroupThis is the French translation ofSeeding Solutions Volume 1. Policy options for genetic resources: People, Plants and Patents revisitedItem Plant genetic resources conservation and use in China: Proceedings of a National Workshop on Conservation and Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources, 25-27 October 1999, Beijing, China(Book, 2001) Weidong Gao; Ramanatha Rao, V.; Ming-De Zhou; International Plant Genetic Resources Institute; CAASEnglish and Chinese in one publicationItem Seeding solutions: Volume 2. Options for national laws governing control over genetic resources and biological innovations(Book, 2001) Crucible II GroupIt is a very practical tool that national policy-makers can use to address the issues raised in Volume 1. It consists of annotated collections of optional legislative provision for national laws to regulate access to genetic resources and to create various forms of intellectual property protection for plant varieties, biological innovations, and indigenous and local knowledge. While not written to be adopted into any country's national laws in their current form, these provisions provide an excellent means by which policy-makers can assess the range of choices before them.Item Handbook of seed technology for genebanks: Volume II: compendium of specific germination information and test recommendation(Book, 1985) Ellis, R.H.; Hong, T.D.; Roberts, E.H.; International Board for Plant Genetic ResourcesThis second volume on seed technology for genebanks provides general approaches, detailed information, guidance and, when available, prescriptions for removing dormancy and germinating the seeds. It is the third in a general series of genebank handbooks. (Reprinted 1989)Item MusaDoc 2000(Other, 2000) International Network for the Improvement of Banana and PlantainThe up-to-date versions of the INIBAP databases, MUSALIT - containing abstracts and bibliographic records of publications on Musa, and BRIS - the database of banana researchers are available. As are all of the recent publications, including the popular Banana brochure, new factsheets and publications from 2000, such as the 1999 Annual Report, 'Banana cultivar names and synonyms', 'Evaluating bananas: a global partnership' and 'Bananas and food security'.Item Musalogue (a catalogue of Musa germplasm): Diversity in the genus Musa(Book, 2001) Daniells, J.; Jenny, C.; Karamura, D.; Tomekpe, Kodjo; International Network for the Improvement of Banana and PlantainINIBAP has just published the second edition of Musalogue - a catalogue of Musa diversity. This publication provides descriptions and photographs of species and varieties covering most of the diversity in the genus Musa. Each entry in the catalogue is represented by a photograph and a morpho-taxonomic description of the plant in the field. The publication is based on information provided to INIBAP through the Musa Germplasm Information System (MGIS) by germplasm curators from Guadeloupe, Cameroon, Australia and Uganda.Item A tribute to the work of Paul Allen: A catalogue of wild and cultivated bananas(Book, 1999) Rosales, F.; Arnaud, Elizabeth; Coto, J.; International Network for the Improvement of Banana and PlantainThis publication results from a collaboration between FHIA, Honduras and INIBAP and provides information on the tremendous work carried out by Paul Allen during the 1950's and 60's to build and characterise the Musa collection of the United Fruit Co. (now FHIA's collection). The book contains data on 337 accessions of banana collected by Dr Paul H. Allen during missions mainly in South East Asia and New Guinea in the 1960s. Information about each accession is provided in a Musalogue-type format, with one accession being described per page. The information included is based on the content of banana score cards compiled by Dr Allen. These score cards morpho-taxonomic observations and evaluation data collected on the varieties in the collection. The majority of this data was entered into a database in order to produce this monograph. As a result, a safe copy of this valuable and historical work now exists. This publication aims to make known a regional and historical « wealth ». (Out of print)Item Evaluating bananas: A global partnership: results of IMTP phase II(Book, 2000) Orjeda, G.; International Network for the Improvement of Banana and PlantainFor the International Musa Testing Programme (IMTP) Phase II, germplasm was evaluated for resistance to black Sigatoka (M. fijiensis), yellow Sigatoka (M. musicola) and Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense). The majority of IMTP Phase II trials were planted during 1996 and 1997. The first part of this publication provides a synthesis of final results. In the second part, full results are given for Sigatoka sites in Cameroon, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nigeria, the Philippines, Tonga, and Uganda, and for Fusarium wilt (Foc) sites in Australia, Brazil, Honduras, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, and Uganda.Item Bananas and food security= Les productions bananieres: un enjeu economique majeur pour la securite alimentaire: International symposium, Douala, Cameroon, 10-14 November 1998(Book, 1999) Picq, C.; Fouré, E.; Frison, Emile A.The proceedings of the first International Symposium on the socioeconomics of non-export banana production 'Bananas and food security' held in November 1998 in Douala, Cameroon, include 61 contributions from all over the world and cover the following topics: Importance of bananas economically and as a source of food (16 contributions); Diversity and dynamics of the sectors (18 contributions); Organisation of markets and marketing (13 contributions) and Production systems (14 contributions).
