    Report of the Meeting on the Management of Systemwide Programmes and Ecoregional Initiatives

    Report of a meeting convened by the CGIAR center directors in December 1994 at IPGRI in Rome to consider issues involved in the management of intercenter programs. Present, in addition to center directors or their designees, were representatives of the board chairs, TAC, the TAC and CGIAR Secretariats, and the Oversight Committee. The group considered the classification of various initiatives, and found them sufficiently various to require different forms of governance and operational management depending on their specific characteristics. A number of definitions and operating principles were suggested. The meeting agreed that the next step was for the participants to develop management structures for particular programs, some of which might require approval by TAC or the CGIAR.
