Abstract/Description
Climate change and human population pressure on food resources make changes in farming methods in dryland areas increasingly important. Presented in a clear, easy-to-read style, this booklet looks at how the productivity of food crops in the semi-arid tropics may be increased, by both genetic and agronomic means. The text is illustrated with many photographs and diagrams, and comprises chapters on the effect of drought on crops, drought tolerance in food crops such as cereals and legumes, and improving water resources and their use.
