International Agricultural Research Centers: Achievements and Potential Part IIIen
Part III of a study of the impact of the CGIAR System on agricultural production and agricultural research institutions in developing countries, directed by Jock R. Anderson. This part is entitled 'Realized Contributions of the Partnership.' It assesses the impacts of CGIAR plant breeding and germplasm work both in terms of productivity increases and distribution of benefits of the spread of new varieties and technologies. It also discusses the impact of IARC training programs on human resource development in developing country research institutions, and effects of IARC collaboration on the capacity of these institutions. The focus of chapter 10 is the impact of IARC policy research on rural and agricultural policymaking in developing countries. Agenda document at TAC 38 in October 1985. The impact study was the subject of a two day seminar at International Centers Week in October-November 1985. A summary overview was published by the CGIAR Secretariat in September 1985, and a book entitled Science and Food: The CGIAR and its Partners, based on the study, was published by the World Bank in 1988.en
