Abstract/Description
News release announcing that The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) and the World Bank signed an agreement to support research to develop more disease-resistant banana varieties, for both export and local consumption in major banana-producing countries. The Common Fund for Commodities would contribute 3.566 million US dollars over the next five years. The project will involve cooperation between the Common Fund, the World Bank, the Inter-Governmental Group on Bananas of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Fundacion Hondurena de Investigacion Agricola, Honduras, and participating donors of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
