Abstract/Description
Report of TAC 37 held at IRRI in Los Baños, Philippines, June 15-25, 1985, Professor Guy Camus presiding. After reviewing center p&bs for 1986, TAC recommended programs aggregating $184.5 million net, with additional, lower priority elements of $8.3 million. TAC held its final discussion of its review of CGIAR priorities and future strategies prior to issuance of the paper in final form for discussion by the CGIAR at ICW 1985.Plans were made for an interim external review of WARDA. After discussing in closed session the report of its subcommittee on the IBPGR, TAC decided to recommend to the CGIAR the transformation of the IBPGR into a small, autonomous non-governmental institution within the framework of the CGIAR. The subcommittee report, with a covering letter dated May 30, 1985 from chairman Michael Arnold, is annexed to the record of the TAC meeting. TAC was informed that the CGIAR had established a sub-group to study the issues related to the IBPGR-FAO relationship. TAC prepared a commentary for the CGIAR, given in full in the report of the meeting, on the center directors' position paper on nutritional concerns in international agricultural research. TAC decided to start a review of the CGIAR process of reviewing centers at TAC 38. TAC was brought up to date on progress with the CGIAR budget study, and discussed the procedures for reviewing center p&bs for 1987. TAC also heard a report on the Inter-Center Seminar on Women and Agricultural Technology.
