Abstract/Description
Commentary written by J. M. Hirst at the request of TAC on the sciences and strategies of crop protection emphasizing pest control, including weeds and fungi. TAC is urged to consider the suitability of centralized tropical crop protection given the specificity of commodities and locations, as well as the desirability of shifting CGIAR crop protection from applied, short-term science relating to specific problems to more fundamental research in the service of national programs as their capacity for applied research improves. Agenda document, TAC 26th meeting, June 1981.
