Chapter 1, The Year in Review, addresses the preparations for the Group's expansion following the declaration of intent at the May 1989 meeting to bring forestry, renewable resources, and sustainability into the mandate. It also considers work at the two secretariats, external reviews of ICARDA and CIMMYT, and developments at IBPGR.The following two chapters discuss the relationships of CGIAR centers with national agricultural research systems (NARS), and post harvest issues. The final chapter describes the CGIAR's financial situation in 1988.Annexes list major CGIAR crops and activities, CGIAR organization and membership, donor contributions to center programs for 1972-1988, center expenditures since 1971, and the regional origins of internationally-recruited staff and board members.
