The Network of Agricultural Mechanization in Africa (NAMA), which was described in Spore 44 page 13, has now become fully operational. Its objective is firstly to acquire, process, and disseminate information on agricultural mechanization projects and programmes among network members and secondly to initiate and execute projects m research and training in collaboration with other agencies. To further its first objective NAMA has commenced publication of a quarterly Newsletter which reports on developments in Africa. Three issues have so far been published, and these have been supported by the Agricultural Development Unit of the Commonwealth Secretariat. In recognition of the useful service provided by this Newsletter, other agencies such as GTZ, the German development agency have indicated interest in supporting the publication of future issues of the Newsletter. The Newsletter is being edited by Professor Mrema of the Botswana College of Agriculture in association with Dr E N Mwaura of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, University of Nairobi and Mr Y N Musa, Director, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, Ilorin, Nigeria. Contributions are invited for future issues of the Newsletter.
