HYDRONET is a new publication for all technicians dealing with micro hydropower and all those projets where water power can be used for small-scale industry or community development. Lack of energy constitutes an important obstacle to rural development. HYDRONET aims to promote the appropriate uses of decentralized micro hydropower energy systems which are compahble with the prevailing economic, social, and ecological conditions. But the technology involved will be, for many, new and unknown. HYDRONET therefore seeks to motivate all those projects which have hydro-potential to use this energy economically. The newsletter offers a platform for an interchange of experiences by publishing activities, solutions and problems - and will form a link between those active in this field. It seeks to reduce isolahon and shrengthen networking, indeed, HYDRONET is a tool for networking in itself. Its contents include major articles, projet reports, short news items, book reviews and contacts. Initially, HYDRONET will be edited by FAKT (Association for Context Appropriate Technology) in cooperation with SKAT (Swiss Centre for Appropriate Technology) but in due course this work will be transferred to partner countries. HYDRONET's editorial staff offer a cmestion-and-answer service free of charge. For more details, contact: HYDRONET- FAKT - Gansheidestrasse 43 - D-7000 Stuttgart- 1 GERMANYen_US
