CGIAR Center Directors Committee Minutes, Presiding Chair: L. Brader

The minutes record a meeting between DG’s and Directors of US State Agricultural Experiment Stations to explore areas of mutual interest and collaboration responding to signs that USAID will increase its contribution in 1997 50% of which will be earmarked for collaborative work with US universities. The minutes contain extensive reports on AIARC and PARC’s activities, and other CDC committees, such as IPR, SSA, and CSE, Mike Collinson’s report on ecoregional initiatives, a report from the CDDC on the IVDN, the Singer Project, GIS Development, the Gender Program, Systemwide Programs and Project-based Management. In a meeting with the TAC Chair, Medium-Term Plans, reduction in in-service training, outsourcing, congruence between funding and TAC’s priorities, the competitive grants scheme and the result of increased competition between centers are discussed.
