Abstract/Description
This news release discusses one of the most pressing agricultural research issues today - which is determining what effect global warming will have on the world's food supply. Most scientists agree that the impact of the so-called greenhouse gases, chiefly from carbon dioxide caused by burning petroleum-based fuels and the widespread clearance of forests for agriculture, would cause global temperatures to rise from 2 to 8 degrees centigrade by the year 2050, unless steps are taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
