Abstract/Description
One of six papers submitted by TAC for discussion at ICW95 as part of the process of revising CGIAR priorities and strategies. This one concerns the role of natural resource management in CGIAR priority setting. It described the evolution of the CGIAR's interest in productivity increasing, resource conserving technologies, and its relationship to Agenda 21. The uncertainty of information on resource degradation may mean changes in perceptions of priorities as better insights become available. TAC addresses the substitutability of natural, physical, human and social resources and suggest the goal is to increase the total stock of all four forms of capital. It also describes the search for a balance between high and low potential environments, and the need for an integrated, watershed based approach.Agenda document at CGIAR International Centers Week, October - November 1995.
