Abstract/Description

The history of our most common livestock species, the chicken, from its birth as domesticated animal in the Asian jungles to its world conquest. Olivier Hanotte, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) principal scientist and deputy director at the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health (CTLGH), explains how chickens are saving the lives of millions daily and will increasingly do so as survivors and saviours.
