The 3-stage progeny evaluation program at CIAT tested 1902 materials (67.4 percent new entries) in 1986, distributed as follows: 1st stage (bean evaluation nursery-VEF), 1282 entries; 2nd stage (preliminary trials-EP), 435 entries; and 3rd stage (IBYAN), 185 entries. The following data are included in table form for these 3 uniform nurseries: no. of sets of international nurseries (VEF-EP-IBYAN) dispatched during 1986 to different countries; no. of bean entries in the 1986 VEF with resistant and intermediate reaction to rust, anthracnose, angular leaf spot, common bacterial blight, and a necrotic and mottled reaction to BCMV; no. of bean entries in the 1986 VEF within each group according to growth habit and maturity; yield and main characteristics of some outstanding lines in the 1986 VEF; av. yield of the bush lines tested in Palmira and Popayan, Colombia (1986 EP); av. yield of the climbing large-seeded lines for cool climates tested in Rio Negro, Colombia (1986 EP); yield of the most outstanding bush lines in the 1986 IBYAN evaluated in Palmira and Popayan. El programa de evaluacion de progenies en 3 etapas en CIAT probo en 1986 un total de 1902 materiales (67.4 por ciento nuevas entradas), distribuidos como sigue: primera etapa (vivero de evaluacion de frijol-VEF), 1282 entradas; segunda etapa (ensayos preliminares-EP), 435 entradas; y tercera etapa (IBYAN), 185 entradas. Se tabulan los siguientes datos para estos 3 viveros uniformes: no. de conjuntos de viveros internacionales (VEF-EP- IBYAN) despachados durante 1986 a diferentes paises; no. de entradas de frijol en el VEF de 1986 con reaccion resistente e intermedia a roya, antracnosis, mancha foliar angular, anublo bacteriano comun y una reaccion necrotica y moteada a BCMV; no. de entradas de frijol en el VEF de 1986 dentro de cada grupo segun el habito de crecimiento y maduracion; rendimiento y principales caracteristicas de algunas lineas sobresalientes en el VEF de 1986; rendimiento prom. de las lineas arbustivas probadas en Palmira y Popayan, Colombia (EP de 1986); rendimiento prom. de lineas trepadoras de semilla grande para climas templados en Rio Negro, Colombia (EP de 1986); rendimiento de las lineas arbustivas mas sobresalientes en el IBYAN de 1986 evaluadas en Palmira y Popayan.
