Abstract/Description
Report of the first meeting of the CGIAR Oversight Committee, held in Bern, Switzerland, July 7-8, 1993. The meeting proposed terms of reference for the Committee, which were circulated to the members of the CGIAR for approval on a no objection basis. The Committee also made a work plan consisting of four items: strategy/vision for the system; leadership and structure for the CGIAR and the centers; developing country needs; and maintaining a watching brief over specific issues. There were two active issues: transferring the activities of INIBAP to the IBPGR and reestablishing confidence at ICLARM following a management crisis. The Committee also made recommendations about the agenda for ICW93. A list of the members of the Committee is attached. This was a background document for CGIAR International Centers Week, October 1993.
