Abstract/Description

Animations and online visual presentations dedicated to teaching and reflections on the uptake of socio-technical innovations by women farmers.

As most agricultural farmers especially women get older, their responsibilities increase and their patience with longs hours of face to face meetings and trainings becomes a problem. Farmers are showing interest in receiving information from the value chain through animations and visual presentations. They prefer listening to an animation of three to five minutes and having a discussion to fill any needed gaps. This way they have more time to attend to other productive or household activities. Also using animation has increased the reach of information and technologies to farmers (where to source seed, varieties to plant, preparation of land, post harvest losses, nutrition and multistakeholder platforms) through social media channels like Whatsapp.
