| dcterms.description | Dorothy Mukhebi is a natural born networker. Not for her the chicanery of methodological mystery; she is, always has been and ever shall be one of those special people who intuitively knows what each person needs, and can contribute, to be a full player in a network. For a month short of a decade, Dorothy has applied these natural talents to some of CTA?s most pioneering information services: the CD-ROM distribution project, support to information centres, the selective dissemination of information (SDI) service and the decentralisation of the Question-and-Answer Service (QAS). In active programmes throughout the six ACP regions, she has helped colleagues enhance their skills as information entrepreneurs and has cajoled her own and their institutions to keep up with a fast-changing environment. To hundreds of peers, far or near, she has always been a good neighbour. Now she is heading home to her family in Kenya, where she earlier applied her degrees in agriculture and library and information studies as a documentalist at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) and the Ministry of Agriculture. She?s joining the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA), to run their Regional Agricultural Information Network (RAIN) which services 19 thematic networks. When she says, with that special twinkle in her eyes, "And now it really is going to RAIN", you just know it?s more good news. | en |
