dcterms.description | Do you have ideas and experiences concerning the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in African agriculture and natural resource management (NRM)? You might want to share these or exchange ideas with others through the afagrict-l mailing list. This electronic forum has been established by CTA to sharpen thinking on ICT development, primarily in Africa. However, the forum is expected to be relevant for other developing regions as well. Over 100 people are already participating in the forum and giving useful inputs. One participant challenges the technocratic supply-side approach many agriculture and ICT projects have. Only two out of 64 NRM computer software products had room to input stakeholdersÕ differing perspectives on NRM issues. Another contributor argues that there is a need to look at 'who owns the problem' and 'who owns the resources to address it'. The history of agricultural projects seems to indicate that shared ownership of the problem analysis and implementation is closely related to success.
