Item Context Matters: Tackling Methane in Livestock Systems for a Sustainable Future(Brief, 2024-12-19) Food Systems for the Future (FSF); Environmental Defense Fund; International Livestock Research InstituteSummary This dialogue held at the COP29 Action on Food Pavillion on November 20, 2024 aimed to generate consensus and build a diverse coalition across the ruminant meat and complementary protein value chains to align on common policy levers and solution sets that deliver for people, planet, and shared prosperity. Pathways to Action The dialogue highlighted several actionable pathways: • Scaling Up Solutions: Programs should prioritize technology transfer and capacity building for smallholders, ensuring they benefit from innovations like methane-reducing feed additives. • Collaborative Efforts: Cross-sector partnerships between governments, private sector, and international organizations are vital for scaling solutions. • Regulation & Incentives: Policymakers must consider carrot-and-stick approaches to drive change. Incentives, such as subsidies for methane reduction technologies, combined with regulations like emissions caps, can accelerate progress. • Consumer Engagement: Engaging consumers around the benefits of sustainably produced meat and dairy and dispelling media misinformation can create market demand, encouraging farmers to adopt climate-smart practices.Item Introduction to a new narrative for livestock and biodiversity: Livestock must be part of the solution to sustainably managing Earth’s biodiversity(Brief, 2024-09-29) African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources; International Livestock Research Institute; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale ZusammenarbItem Sustainable livestock Challenges, misconceptions and solutions(Presentation, 2024-09-25) Herrero, MarioItem Multi-Country Livestock Investor Landscape Study(Presentation, 2024-09-04) Girvetz, Kristin Grote; Victor, MichaelItem Livestock and climate solutions hub: Delivering an equitable transition to sustainable and net-zero emission livestock systems in low- and middle-income countries(Presentation, 2024-09-02) Whitbread, Anthony M.Item Shaping Africa’s Food Future through Sustainable Livestock Innovations(Presentation, 2024-09-06) Djikeng, AppolinaireItem Unlocking investment for the Kenyan Livestock Sector(Brief, 2024-02) Bhoopal, A.; Wathuta, W.; Girvetz, K.Item Insights from the Kenya Livestock Investor Landscape Study(Presentation, 2024-01-30) Bhoopal, Arjun; Girvetz, KristinItem Livestock donor roundtable to advance partnerships and commitments for strengthening the transformation of Africa’s food, land and water systems(Report, 2023-09-05) Mugo, Cynthia; Victor, MichaelItem Livestock Investor Insights(Presentation, 2023-09-05) Girvetz, KristinItem Tanzania leads the way in Africa’s livestock renaissance(Opinion Piece, 2023-09-01) Ulega, Abdallah; Dessalegn, HailemariamItem Science and advocacy: finding the right balance(Blog Post, 2023-05) Victor, Michael; Mugo, CynthiaItem Tailor climate-smart livestock solutions to African context(Opinion Piece, 2023-05-09) Djikeng, AppolinaireItem One Health investment options for livestock systems of the Global South(Video, 2022-07-20) International Livestock Research InstituteIn this video short, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) offers nine core livestock-based options for greatly enhancing global One Health—the health of people, animals and ecosystems alike.Item Overview of the Global Livestock Advocacy for Development (GLAD) 3 project(Video, 2022-05-01) International Livestock Research InstituteAn overview of the Global Livestock Advocacy for Development (GLAD) 3 project (2022–2025), which focuses on growing financial, intellectual and policy support for sustainable livestock in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).Item Media and communications audit and summary report on livestock at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27)(Report, 2022-12-31) Marchmont CommunicationsItem One Health: Taking a horizontal approach to tackling pandemics(Opinion Piece, 2020) Smith, Jimmy W.Item The cow in the room: The roles milk, meat and eggs play in sustainable food systems transformation(Blog Post, 2022-10) Victor, MichaelItem Livestock is a form of climate justice in the Global South(Opinion Piece, 2022-11) Nouala, SimpliceItem Human health, animal health and environmental health are inextricably linked(Opinion Piece, 2020-07) Andersen, Inger; Smith, Jimmy W.
