Abstract/Description
Revised version of the prospectus prepared by Richard Sawyer in May 1971 and discussed by TAC at its first meeting. Supported by a supplementary paper submitted to the second meeting of TAC. Covers the history of the potato, its importance to world food production, and gives an overview of its nutritional value and adaptability to differing agroclimatic regions. Emergence of a national potato program in Peru in 1967, and USAID - North Carolina State University planning assistance beginning in 1970. Description of the International Potato Center's (CIP) objectives, existing and prospective programs, physical facilities, and consideration of possible donor arrangements.
