dcterms.abstractLa magnitud y gravedad de las repercusiones del VIH/SIDA en el África subsahariana son abrumadoras. La epidemia está destruyendo los medios de subsistencia y poniendo en grave peligro la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional de millones de hogares. El presente documento es un intento por explicar las diferentes repercusiones y caminos a través de las cuales el VIH y el SIDA afectan a la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional, los tipos de respuestas adoptadas por los hogares y las comunidades para tratar de atenuar estos efectos, y sus consecuencias en las políticas y programas, incluida las enseñanzas de los recientes esfuerzos por mitigar las repercusiones directas.
