| dcterms.abstract | Report of a task force on tropical forestry research stemming from the first Bellagio meeting on this subject, and prepared for consideration the second. The report recommended the establishment of an International Tropical Forestry Research Council as an institution for promoting implementation of the Tropical Forestry Action Plan. This plan, in turn, was approved by the July 1987 Bellagio Strategy Meeting on Tropical Forests. The statement issued by that meeting is attached as Annex 1. Other annexes include a list of task force members, a list of papers commissioned, and cost estimates for the proposed Council. Document considered at TAC 48, and distributed to participants in the CGIAR meeting in May-June 1989 as background for the discussion of forestry research. | en_US |
