Document describing the roles, responsibilities, composition, and structure of center boards, and their relationships with directors general, CGIAR members, and the CGIAR System. This was the first in a series of seven reference guides for CGIAR centers and their boards of trustees, published in 1997. The guides were prepared by the CGIAR Secretariat and the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (NCNB), and reviewed by the Oversight Committee and the Committee of Board Chairs (CBC). This first guide was discussed at the CGIAR Mid Term Meeting in May 1996.
