| dcterms.abstract | Report of the fourteenth meeting of the CGIAR Oversight Committee, held in Washington, DC on October 27 and 29, 1997 during International Centers Week. The Committee interacted with the CGIAR Finance Committee and System Review Panel on October 28. Agenda items included action in implementing the recommendations of the EPMR of ICRISAT, and the difficult financial situation of ICIPE. Non-associated centers had important roles to play in the achievement of CGIAR objectives. Their status was an issue deserving consideration in the System Review.The Committee also discussed the IAEG report on the impact of CGIAR activities and the consideration of biotechnology issues by the two specialist panels and others. It heard a briefing by Fernando Chaparro on progress in establishing the Global Forum on Agricultural Research, and hoped that the System Review would consider the relationships between GFAR and CGIAR governance.The chairman reported orally to ICW97, and this report was circulated later. | en |
