Haiti Sweet Potato Seed System Assessment: A Multi Stakeholders Approachen
Sweet potato (SP) represents a strategic crop and nutritional source of vitamin food in the Haitian food system. But very little is known about the upstream of its production. The study helps fill this gap by contributing with empirical information about the seed system of this crop. With key informants interviews conducted in 2022, in three different geographic departments of Haiti, we mobilize a multi stakeholder framework, to analyze the current situation/coordination of the SP seed system in Haiti. Despite many years of reduction of research and public intervention in the SP value chain, there still is a seed system in place. Apart from farmers and seed producers, the different actors do not represent a coordinated network. Appropriate interventions with participative approach are needed to reinforce the coordination in SP seed system and supporting SP production, in this particular time of food insecurity in Haiti.en
