In 2003 the European Commission is to review the framework for the support and promotion of organic farming, including the issue of inspection in the EU of imports from third countries. A public hearing on these issues could be held in the spring of 2003. Comment: The inspection and certification of organic product exports from ACP countries can add significantly to the transaction costs carried by ACP suppliers. ACP organic producers wishing to supply the EU market should make their views known during the forthcoming consultations.en
