Report of the NGO Committee to CGIAR International Centers Week 1996

Report by Robert Blake, chairman of the CGIAR NGO Committee to International Centers Week, October-November 1996 on the outcome of the Committee's third meeting, the goals of the committee, activities over the preceding year, plans for the following year, and progress in cultivating partnerships with NGOs and farmers' organizations. Much of the statement consists of proposals for strengthening the NGO role in research, and for the reorientation of the research agenda of the IARCs. The Committee sought active involvement with TAC in planning programs. It also urged the CGIAR to take a stand for the reform of international agricultural and trade policies to make them consistent with the goals of the Group.
